Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to lead mechanical maintenance activities for manufacturing equipment including CNC, SPM, and VMC machines.The role is responsible for ensuring high equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining precision and performance of machines in an automotive or engineering manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Maintenance Execution
- Supervise breakdown and preventive maintenance of CNC, VMC, and SPM machines.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical issues related to spindles, ball screws, guideways, bearings, and transmission systems.
- Ensure machines are aligned, calibrated, and capable of maintaining production tolerances.
Hydraulics & Pneumatics Systems
- Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including valves, cylinders, pumps, and compressors.
- Ensure proper pressure settings, leak prevention, and system efficiency.
- Monitor and maintain lubrication systems across machines.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Implement preventive maintenance schedules for mechanical components.
- Conduct predictive maintenance such as vibration analysis, temperature monitoring, and wear inspection.
- Track machine accuracy, backlash, and repeatability for performance consistency.
Breakdown Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring mechanical failures.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Drive initiatives to improve MTBF and reduce MTTR.
Coordination & Documentation
- Coordinate with Electrical Maintenance, Production, and Stores for spares and support.
- Maintain records of breakdowns, maintenance activities, and spare usage.
- Prepare reports on downtime trends and improvement actions.
Safety, 5S & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to safety practices, including LOTO procedures and safe handling of equipment.
- Maintain 5S standards in maintenance and shop-floor areas.
- Ensure compliance with EHS and internal safety guidelines.
Team Management & Skill Development
- Supervise technicians and allocate work effectively.
- Provide training on mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance best practices.
- Enhance team capability in precision maintenance and equipment care.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems in CNC / VMC / SPM machines
- Expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, and lubrication systems
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and assembly diagrams
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
- Understanding of machine alignment, tolerances, and precision maintenance
- Good leadership and coordination skills
Educational Qualification
- Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering
Experience Required
- 2–15 years of experience in mechanical maintenance of CNC / SPM / VMC machines
- Preferably from automotive or auto components industry
Preferred Qualifications
- TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)
- Lean Maintenance / Kaizen practices
- Experience with ERP-based maintenance systems
