Role Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for managing and improving day-to-day manufacturing operations across CNC machining processes, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production. The role involves production planning and execution, manpower management, machine utilization, productivity improvement, delivery adherence, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position requires strong expertise in CNC machining operations, shop-floor management, resource optimization, and cross-functional coordination to achieve production targets and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
- Plan, monitor, and execute daily production activities to achieve output targets.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules, customer delivery commitments, and manufacturing plans.
- Monitor machine utilization, productivity, and production efficiency.
- Manage CNC Turning, VMC, and machining operations to ensure smooth production flow.
- Optimize manpower allocation and machine loading for maximum operational efficiency.
- Ensure availability of tools, fixtures, gauges, materials, and resources required for production.
- Monitor production performance and implement corrective actions to address bottlenecks.
- Coordinate with Maintenance teams to minimize machine downtime and improve equipment availability.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and manufacturing practices.
Production Planning & Resource Management
- Coordinate with Planning and SCM teams to ensure material availability.
- Monitor production schedules and prioritize jobs based on customer requirements.
- Track daily production output and report performance against targets.
- Support capacity planning and resource utilization activities.
- Assist in production balancing and workload distribution across machines and shifts.
Productivity & Continuous Improvement
- Drive productivity improvement initiatives across machining operations.
- Reduce cycle times, setup times, and production losses.
- Improve machine utilization and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Identify and eliminate manufacturing inefficiencies and operational waste.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Monitor and improve labor productivity and operational performance.
New Product Introduction Support
- Support pilot production and new product introduction activities.
- Coordinate with Process Engineering and Tool Room teams during new product launches.
- Ensure readiness of machines, manpower, tooling, and resources for production trials.
- Facilitate smooth transition of new products into regular production.
Team Management & Coordination
- Lead and supervise shop-floor operators, technicians, and shift personnel.
- Ensure discipline, safety, and operational compliance within the production area.
- Conduct skill development and training activities for production personnel.
- Coordinate closely with Planning, Maintenance, Quality, SCM, and Tool Room teams.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Mandatory Skills
- Strong experience in CNC Turning and/or VMC machining operations.
- Experience in production management within a precision machining environment.
- Knowledge of production planning, machine loading, and manpower management.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and shop-floor operations.
- Experience in productivity improvement and manufacturing efficiency enhancement.
- Ability to analyze production data and implement improvement actions.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
Engineer
- 3–6 years of experience in Production, CNC Machining Operations, Manufacturing, or Shop-floor Management.
Senior Engineer
- 6–10 years of experience in CNC machining production, production planning, manpower management, and productivity improvement.
Assistant Manager
- 10–18 years of experience in Production Management, Manufacturing Operations, Capacity Planning, Continuous Improvement, and Team Leadership within a machining or manufacturing environment.
