SCM Engineer

Job Summary

To manage and coordinate supply chain activities including material planning, procurement coordination, inventory control, supplier follow-up, and logistics management to ensure uninterrupted production and on-time customer delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Material Planning & Procurement Coordination

  • Plan and monitor raw material and bought-out component requirements based on production schedules and customer demand.
  • Coordinate with Purchase, PPC, Stores, and Production teams for timely material availability.
  • Follow up with suppliers for on-time delivery of materials and components.
  • Monitor shortages and take proactive actions to avoid production interruptions.

Inventory Management

  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimum stock as per company norms.
  • Track slow-moving, non-moving, and excess inventory.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through regular stock verification and reconciliation.
  • Support implementation of inventory reduction initiatives.

Supplier Coordination

  • Coordinate with suppliers regarding schedules, dispatches, and delivery commitments.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to delivery adherence and responsiveness.
  • Maintain supplier schedules and material tracking reports.

Logistics & Dispatch Coordination

  • Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics activities.
  • Ensure timely dispatch planning and transportation arrangement for customer deliveries.
  • Monitor transit status and resolve logistics-related issues.

ERP & Documentation

  • Update material planning, inventory, and dispatch data in ERP systems.
  • Maintain SCM MIS reports, material status reports, and supply chain records.
  • Prepare reports related to stock status, shortages, supplier deliveries, and dispatch performance.

Cross Functional Coordination

  • Work closely with PPC, Production, Quality, Purchase, and Stores departments for smooth supply chain operations.
  • Support customer schedule changes and urgent delivery requirements.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and supply chain improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in cost reduction and process optimization activities.

Preferred Industry Experience

  • Automobile / Auto Components Manufacturing Industry

Qualification

  • BE / Diploma in Mechanical, Automobile, Production, Industrial Engineering, or MBA in Supply Chain / Operations Management

Experience

  • 2 to 8 years of experience in Supply Chain Management within the automobile or auto component industry.
