Job Summary
To ensure effective in-process quality control during manufacturing operations by monitoring production quality, reducing defects, implementing corrective and preventive actions, and ensuring adherence to customer and organizational quality standards to achieve zero-defect production.
Key Responsibilities
In-Process Quality Control
- Monitor and control in-process quality during manufacturing operations.
- Ensure adherence to Control Plans, SOPs, inspection standards, and quality procedures.
- Perform first-off, in-process, patrol, and final inspection activities.
- Verify product conformity against engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Ensure proper product identification and traceability during production.
Defect Analysis & Problem Solving
- Analyze line rejections, process defects, and customer complaints.
- Conduct root cause analysis using 7 QC Tools, Why-Why Analysis, and Fishbone Diagram.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions for recurring quality issues.
- Monitor defect trends and drive reduction in in-house rejection and PPM levels.
- Ensure effective containment actions for non-conforming products.
Process Quality Assurance
- Ensure implementation and adherence to Process FMEA and Control Plans.
- Monitor process capability through SPC, Cp, and Cpk analysis.
- Verify critical process parameters and quality checkpoints.
- Support implementation of Poka-Yoke (Mistake Proofing) systems.
- Ensure calibration status and proper usage of measuring instruments.
Audit & Compliance
- Support internal audits, layered process audits, and customer audits.
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and customer quality requirements.
- Maintain inspection records, quality reports, rejection data, and process documentation.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and Supplier Quality teams for process improvements.
- Support new product trials, validation activities, and customer requirements.
- Escalate critical quality issues and ensure timely closure.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- GD&T interpretation and drawing reading
- In-process inspection techniques
- SPC and process capability analysis
- Process FMEA and Control Plan
- 7 QC Tools and structured problem solving
- Basic knowledge of MSA and IATF 16949
- Knowledge of machining and assembly processes
- Hands-on experience with measuring instruments such as:
- Vernier Caliper
- Micrometer
- Height Gauge
- Bore Gauge
- Dial Gauge
Experience & Qualification
Experience
- Minimum 3 to 15 years of experience in Line Quality / In-Process Quality.
- Candidates must have experience in the Auto Component Manufacturing Industry.
- Experience in machining, assembly, forging, casting, or precision manufacturing processes preferred.
Qualification
- BE / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical / Automobile / Production Engineering.
Preferred Exposure
- IATF 16949 quality systems
- Customer-specific quality requirements
- CNC machining and assembly quality control
- OEM customer handling and audits
