Purpose of the Role

To manage and maintain IT infrastructure in an automotive manufacturing environment, ensuring reliable server and network operations, secure systems, and timely technical support to users.

Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

Experience

2–4 years of relevant experience in IT Support or System Administration.

Preferred Industry Background

Automotive or manufacturing organisations, preferably with hands-on experience supporting plant IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Windows/Linux servers to ensure system availability and performance.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot LAN, VLAN, WAN, Wi-Fi and VPN connectivity.
  • Configure and maintain firewalls, routers, switches and access points.
  • Manage backups and disaster recovery using NAS, URBackup, Veeam or similar solutions.
  • Provide technical support for hardware, software, printers and network issues.
  • Manage Active Directory, user accounts, access permissions and Group Policy.
  • Support Microsoft 365, email systems and collaboration tools.
  • Maintain endpoint protection, monitor system logs and respond to security incidents.
  • Follow IT security policies and support audits and compliance requirements.
  • Install, configure and update operating systems and business applications.
  • Maintain IT asset records for desktops, laptops, printers and servers.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and support IT infrastructure upgrades.

Required Competencies

  • Hands-on knowledge of Windows Server/Linux administration.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN, DNS, DHCP and firewall configuration.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365 and Exchange Server.
  • Experience with backup and recovery solutions.
  • Knowledge of VMware, Hyper-V or Proxmox virtualisation.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity and data protection practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Availability and reliability of servers and network infrastructure.
  • Timely resolution of user support requests.
  • Successful backups and verified data recovery.
  • Timely installation of updates and security patches.
  • Compliance with IT security policies and closure of audit findings.
  • Accuracy of IT asset records and completion of preventive maintenance.

Work Environment

On-site role with occasional remote support and after-hours support for critical issues.
